Geophysical equipment

Sub-bottom profiling systems

use low frequency sound bursts that not only show the top, but also penetrate into the seafloor. Sub-bottom images are used to map buried pipelines or to inspect seafloor conditions before placing oil or gas platforms. 'Full Spectrum' or 'Chirp' systems use advanced DSP techniques to achieve higher resolution images.

Side-scan systems

are used to create wide area images of the seafloor, for example to locate shipwrecks or uncovered pipelines. They transmit and receive to port and starboard simultaneously, and create a plan view of the intensity of the sound waves reflected.

Geotechnical equipment

Pneumatic vibrocorer

The Seabed Bottom Sampler (SBS) is developed in order to take soil samples of the seabed. A core-barrel is drilled into the soil by means of a pneumatic hammer driven by an air compressor. Independently of the water depth, samples up to three meters can be taken. Herewith the Seabed Bottom Sampler is an addition to existing systems.

Electric vibrocorer

The core of this product range is the electric vibrocorer. The electric vibrocorer is the most cost efficient way to obtain core-samples of the first three to five meters of the seabed.

Piston corer

A cheaper, but less sophisticated way of obtaining core samples of the first meters in the gravity- or piston corer. These corers basically consist of a large weight that is dropped on the seafloor.

Box corer

For better, undisturbed samples of the first 30 to 50 centimeters GEO.XYZ can supply the boxcorer. This consists of a frame with a sample tube (or 'box') and a shovel that closes the box after it inserted the seabed.

Van Veen grab

When only samples are needed of the top of the seafloor, a Van Veen grab is a better option. This is a stainless steel, gravity activated soil grab. These units are available in a large range of sizes.
